Sue Barrett

Sue is Founder & Managing Director of Barrett Consulting Group (est. 1995), incorporating Barrett, Sales Essentials, Mind Your Emotions, Sustainable Selling, Barrett Research, and Sell Like a Woman. Barrett is one of Australia's leading sales consulting firms specialising in Sales Strategy, Sales Force Design, Assessments, Sales Training and Sales Coaching.

Sue is regarded by many mainstream business press publishers & editors as one of the most authoritative thought leaders reporting and commenting on the selling profession and sales operations in Australia today, with her company's articles featuring weekly in BRW & Smart Company, as well as bimonthly in IPA's magazine The Public Accountant.

Sue has written and published 21 books and 500+ articles to date on the world of 21st Century selling including topics on sales philosophy/culture/ethics, sales leadership, sales coaching, sales training, selling skills, sales mindset and resilience, neuroscience in selling, etc.

Sue works as business adviser, sales coach & trainer, speaker, and facilitator.

One of Sue's most significant achievements is to be the first in Australia to put the profession of Selling on the University Agenda through a partnership with Swinburne University of Technology. The Barrett Sales Essentials Transformation Program is the first VET accredited sales training program endorsed by a University in Australia providing a Diploma in Business, Certificate IV in Business Sales and a Certificate IV in Business Administration.

Sue's education & public accomplishments include: BSc, Cert (Strategic Mgt), Cert IV (Workplace Assessor & Trainer); Accd. Executive Coach. Inducted into the Business Women's Hall of Fame 2000; Finalist in 1998 & 2001 Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award; 1997 Winner of Telstra & Victorian Government Small Business Award.

Jobst Schmalenbach

Jobst migrated to Australia in 1989 and switched his focus to IT commencing a degree in Computer Science at Flinders University. He met Sue at the National Masters Swimming Titles in Brisbane in 1990 and later that year moved from Adelaide to Melbourne to continue his studies at Monash University where he completed a Bachelor of Digital Systems with First Class Honours. Having found his niche, Jobst has become a highly knowledgable and proficient IT professional who is very familiar and hands on with both hardware and software.

Jobst is Barrett and Sales Essentials' General Manager and Technical Director, and is responsible for Systems Administration, web design and everything that has any connection with IT. Jobst is also known as Chief Geek. He basically makes things work.

Jens Hartmann

Jens joined possesses a solid background in training, coaching and executive development alongside extensive experience in the sales and service industries. He started in sales himself in 1988 and worked for several banks. For the last 15 years Jens has been developing and leading projects, managing the full spectrum of L&D functions: management consulting, project management, instructional design, implementation and facilitation of made-to-measure training & coaching programs. He is highly regarded as a Management Development Specialist and Performance Coach with a strong sales and efficiency focus, especially in environments undergoing change and restructuring. Jens has worked with major corporations and financial institutions as well as for several universities and colleges.

He indulges in tailoring goal oriented competency frameworks, communication strategies, highly interactive training programs or complex L&D concepts for our customers. But he also enjoys being out in the field facilitating, coaching people and supporting them right in their everyday line of work.

Rebecca Varley

Rebecca is a registered psychologist with a particular interest in helping individuals, teams, and organisations achieve their full potential. Rebecca draws on a broad range of practical and technical skills to deliver the most effective tailored solution to address our clients’ needs. Rebecca has worked across a range of industries, including hospitality, health, finance, NGOs, recruitment, education, and government. She worked for over four years in social research, where she specialised in strategic and organisational development.

Rebecca is a firm believer in the value of benchmarking and evaluation, and enjoys working with all forms of data. She knows the importance of combining qualitative and quantitative data to gain a full understanding of the issues at hand and develop well rounded solutions. Rebecca helps our clients identify their needs and works in partnership with them to leverage their internal skills and resources to achieve their goals.

Astrid Silberman

A marketer who believes in the potential (and responsibility) of business to make a positive impact on the world.

Astrid is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina where she completed a Bachelor in Marketing at Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE).

Astrid worked as a marketing consultant in Buenos Aires before moving to Melbourne in 2003 where she continued working in marketing and business management. She has extensive experience across a broad range of industries and delivers consistent high quality outcomes for clients.
